Self_care

Daily writing prompt
How do you practice self-care?

For as long as I can remember self-care has always been somewhat of a problem for me. Either I never take the time to try to enjoy the process, or I just overall DON’T enjoy the process, as its always something I’ve felt I’ve HAD to do, instead of something I wanted to do.

Don’t get me wrong, a hot AF shower hits right on the best of days, but the process of having to dry off, has always for some unknown reason made me exceptionally irritated. My skin always feels damp, even after I’ve dried off – and then my clean clothes stick to me awkwardly or somehow end up wet! Then my poor temperature regulation usually ends up making me cold and clammy within minutes of changing. I just can’t win! And that’s just the shower…. It wasn’t until I started incorporating washing my face and brushing my teeth while behind the curtain that I got into any kind of daily routine. Also, you’re supposed to put lotion on after you shower… right? Thats what I’ve seen on TV – but then if my skin is still damp, the lotion makes my skin even more sticky!!

Then, as a woman, there’s the hair removal situation, and there’s really no good cheap options – either you cut yourself shaving or have to endure the pain of the hairs being ripped from your skin. UGH. And yet, we continue to choose these options because the idea of being hairy is just – Cringy. ( I am speaking for myself personally. To the bad bitches who don’t give AF – good on you!) I WISH I had that confidence.

I guess there’s no real point to this rant, but its raw and unfiltered. I suppose I’ll have to live with that. Heres to hoping I find an enjoyable routine soon, and bring on the Girl boss vibes I know I’ve been needing for ages. Thanks for reading! 🙂
